For a long time, the Chevrolet Equinox has been a trusted and popular SUV. However, it’s going electric for the first time. We now have more information about the upcoming Equinox EV after it was introduced recently. Moreover, this includes where the price is going to start, although exact, official details remain unavailable. Here’s what we know about the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV, starting at around $30,000.

According to Motor1, the all-electric 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV will start at around $30,000 for the entry-level model. The Equinox 1LT will likely use the lesser drivetrain layout as the cheapest base model. We already know there’s a front-wheel drive version that produces an estimated 210 horsepower resulting in 242 lb-ft of torque. However, the upgraded version uses all-wheel drive, pushing the Equinox EV to 290 horsepower and 346 lb-ft.

Unfortunately, General Motors did not reveal the kilowatt-hour ratings yet for the batteries. Contrarily, we already know there are two capacities available for the Ultium batteries. As a result, nothing is certain in terms of driving range yet. However, Motor1 offers estimates for the possible variations of drivetrain and battery power:

Next, one of the most important things about an electric vehicle is how to charge it. The electric crossover from Chevrolet supports 11.5 kW charging on level 2 AC. Buyers can upgrade to the 3RS eAWD to boost that number to 19.2 kW.

Regarding size, the EV version is 2.3-inches wider and about an inch lower than the fossil-fuel-powered Equinox. According to Motor1, “There’s a dual-level load floor, so the surface can either be flush with the hatch opening or be lower.” At its best, the cargo space is 57 cubic feet, with the rear seat folded down. In comparison, the standard 2022 Chevrolet Equinox provides 63.9 cu. ft. behind the front row and 29.9 behind the second.

Next, we know the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV has at least five different trim levels. They are 1LT, 2LT, 2RS, 3LT, and 3RS. As a result, each one adds more equipment and technology. For example, the base model uses an 11-inch digital instrument cluster and the same size infotainment screen. In addition, every version comes with a safety tech suite. Within it is automatic emergency braking, follow distance indicator, forward collision alert, lane keep assist, automatic headlights, and rear park assist.

Following the base model, the Equinox EV 2LT adds an eight-way power seat, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel. Additionally, the exterior gains an LED light bar. Moreover, this trim level gains access to more optional equipment. For example, a 17.7-inch infotainment screen, adaptive cruise control, and the Super Cruise advanced driver assistance system.

Third is the 2RS, which adds dark-finished 20-inch wheels, an upgrade from the 19-inch versions. However, the 3LT is a much more significant step up. This Equinox EV gains a 17.7-inch diagonal infotainment screen and adaptive cruise control as standard features. Next, it gets a six-way power passenger seat, ventilated front seats, heated outboard rear seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Finally, more upgrades unlock at this trim level, including a Bose stereo, head-up display, a rear camera mirror, and Super Cruise.

Lastly, the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox 3RS is the fully-loaded model. Highlighting the electric crossover is flat-bottom steering, 21-inch wheels, and an available 19.2 kW level 2 charger.

According to Motor1, the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV 2RS will arrive in fall 2023. The rest of the trim levels will release over the 12 months following. For now, this is everything we know about the new electric crossover from Chevy. Are you interested in buying the battery-powered version of the popular Equinox, starting at around $30,000?
