March 20 marks one year since Animal Crossing: New Horizons was released on Nintendo Switch, and the popular game is celebrating with a brand new update that lets players be even more creative.

The anniversary update brings new features to the Custom Design Pro Editor feature on your Nook Phone. This update, called the Custom Design Pro Editor+, offers all-day access to the Custom Design Portal through the NookPhone app.

The new update also expands the design slots for both the Normal and Pro Custom Design modes, to allow players to create even more designs. Additionally, players can now customize a number of new items.

According to Nintendo, over 12 million Custom Designs have already been shared to the Custom Design Portal, allowing players to use all kinds of interesting and unique designs around their islands. Even President Joe Biden got in on the fun last year.

Here's everything you need to know about the Custom Design Pro Editor+ feature.

First, players will need to update their Animal Crossing: New Horizons game. Most Nintendo Switch consoles have automatic updating activated in their settings, but if yours doesn't, then you'll need to update the game manually.

Players will need to make sure ACNH is on version update 1.9. If it's not, hover over the game on your Switch UI and press the plus (+) button on your console. Press "Software Update" and then "via the internet" to check for the update. Your game should then update.

Once the game has been updated, you'll need to head over to Guest Services and go to the Nook Miles kiosk. There, you'll be able to purchase the update for your Custom Design Pro feature. Your Nookphone will update and you'll be ready to go.

Using the new Custom Design Pro Editor + feature is similar to the version before it.

After accessing the app on their Nookphone, players can create their own designs using a grid, pens and paint. However, players can also transfer designs created by other people using QR codes and the Nintendo Online app on their smartphones.

After signing into your Nintendo Switch account on the Nintendo Online app, you'll need to go to New Horizons' settings by pressing the minus (-) button while on the title screen. You'll be able to use the NookLink once you've finished setting it up in that menu. Restart the smartphone app and then you'll be ready to go.

In order to transfer outfits designed in New Horizons, you'll need to construct the Able Sister's Tailor shop and have a Nintendo Online subscription. Go to the back of the shop, where you'll find a kiosk. Type in the creator ID code given to you and you'll be able to download the clothing made by other players. If you want to share clothes of your own, you'll need a creator ID code, which should be given to you at the kiosk.

As for the new items that you're now able to design in New Horizons, you can find them in a couple of places. Umbrella, uchiwa fan and flags can be purchased via the Nook Mile kiosk in Guest Services.

Standees can be found in the Able Sister's Tailor Shop.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now for Nintendo Switch.
