The gold version of the Pokémon Trading Card Game’s Path to the Peak is being given out for free to honor the 2022 Pokémon World Championships.

Fans can now claim a free Pokémon Trading Card Game online gold card, provided they act quickly enough. The beloved tabletop game sees players collect cards to build a deck and head into battle against other players and their Pokémon lineup. Today marks the first day of the Pokémon World Championships 2022, and The Pokémon Company is celebrating this momentous occasion by giving out a free digital card.

After the COVID-19 pandemic led to a two-year hiatus, the Pokémon World Championships are making a triumphant return in 2022. The annual competitive event sees Trainers face off in a wide range of Pokémon titles including video games like Pokémon Sword and Shield, Pokémon Unite and Pokémon GO. The massive pocket monster event will also see collectors compete in the Pokémon Trading Card Game, which adds some lovely variety amongst the various video game tournaments. The beloved event's grand return will be streamed from August 18 to 21, with the Pokémon World Championships giving out Victini and Sinistea to viewers amongst other exciting rewards.

On top of distributing Pokémon Sword and Shield's Victini and Sinistea, Pokebeach reports that the Pokémon World Championships is giving out a free gold version of the Pokémon Trading Card Game card Path to the Peak. Released as part of 2021's Chilling Reign expansion, this Stadium card alters the fundamental rules of a game by removing the abilities of any Pokémon with a Rule Box in play. Players can use the code "Worlds22London" to get the gold version of Path to the Peak for free in either Pokémon Trading Card Game Online or Pokémon Trading Card Game Live! until August 29. Only 100,000 will be available, however, so Trainers should act fast to secure their card.

Alongside giving out a gold Path to the Peak for free, the Pokémon World Champions 2022 event is also expected to reveal Pokémon Scarlet and Violet trading card sets. The next games in the monster collection franchise, set for release on November 18, will take players to the Paldea region and introduce them to a whole host of new Pokémon. The Starter Pokémon Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly have already been unveiled, and many Pokémon will also have new Paldean regional variants too. This should lead to a massive amount of new Pokémon TCG cards, some of which will be shown off at the Pokémon World Championships.

To honor the return of the Pokémon World Championships, The Pokémon Company is giving collectors the opportunity to acquire a free gold version of Path to the Peak. The card's original artwork was already serene, but the gold version is absolutely breathtaking with its shining golden snowflakes. The Stadium card also significantly changes the tabletop experience, making it a wonderful gift for Pokémon Trading Card Game fans fast enough to grab it.
